Launch or Accelerate Your Next Narrative Project

5-Day Story Boost - Summer 2026

Angie's class gave me a method of recognizing the structure of my story early, and using that structure to tell my story to greater effect. I wish I'd taken the class ten years ago. I recommend the class to writers at any stage of their careers.” -- Mary V. (traditionally published author)

"I went from vague idea to fully structured outline, with intensifying conflicts and clear arcs and developed characters, all the things that makes a good novel strong. "

- Erica L. (traditionally published author)

"By teaching me new ways to swing back and forth between my analytical abilities and my intuition, this class has given a huge boost to my writing life."

- Janet T. (traditionally published author)

The Curriculum

Before August 3rd: Collecting Your Materials

We'll hit the ground running on Monday, August 3rd, so keep your eyes out for our communications and review what you currently have on your project, if anything.

AUGUST 3: Introduce Your Darlings, Find Out Why They Must Change

Introduce your project to other members of the bootcamp. We'll look at what we love and why we love it as we start to shape our new project or next draft.

AUGUST 4: The Role of Change in Stories

Characters, settings, feelings, all kinds of things change in a story, but it's the pattern and its breaking that give us meaning. Today we'll look at change as a story element ... and what in your story has to change.

AUGUST 5: Pitch to Perfect (Per FECT not Perfect)

Today we'll start shaping our stories through timed creative pitching/ concise storytelling. What's catching your readers' attention? What doesn't make sense? Do it again. Through playful repetition and specific, detailed, actionable feedback, you'll leave today with a much sharper sense of the KEY ELEMENTS of your story that you AND your readers/ listeners love as well as what your audience THINKS your meaning is.

AUGUST 6: Using the Pitch to Push Your Plan

Now that you have clarity about how to talk about your story, what needs pushing, and what needs scaling back, we'll formalize what you learned into a fast outline or narrative sketch. Tell your story again, this time more deeply and with more structure to see if the idea still holds together as we increase the complexity.

AUGUST 7: Where to Go From Here

Complete your outline/ narrative sketch with confidence and wrap up by defining your next steps to finishing a story you love.

Meet Your Instructor

My name is Angie, and I ever since I was little, stories and storytelling have been a survival strategy. Whether it was using stories to get through cleaning the stalls on my family's "ranchette" in Northern California or trying to understand the dynamics of our world, storytelling has helped me make sense of the senseless or just made a dull day more engaging. But I never knew how to end a story, how to revise.

Like a lot of folks, I've taken classes online, in-person and through books, and spent more than I'd like to admit on degrees, because I feel confident in revision or that I was telling the story I wanted to tell. In fact, during my MFA program (which by the way, I am STILL paying off), my thesis advisor asked a simple question I couldn't answer: Why are we still here?

The writing was great (I won a prize!) but the story didn't seem to know what it was about, and given that my thesis was only supposed to be 70 pages and I had cruised confidently past 200, my advisor really wanted to know, when will this end? And I really wanted to know: How do I know?

Since then, I've been lucky enough to make films that have won awards, been picked up for distribution and festivals. And these experiences have given a community with other storytellers who are also pushing themselves to tell a better story.

Through this process, I've learned two things that have made all the difference: iteration is the key to making something that is truly alive for you and your audience and the audience is always smarter than the writer.

Once you understand how easy and playful that iteration can be when you do it in community, your creative process will be so much more fun than you'd ever imagined. It's not a secret tool, it's just a willingness to take a risk, stay curious about other people, and use a couple of simple tools to find and emphasize the most important components of your story.

I have helped folks work on their structure from big projects to small, and I'm excited about this bootcamp. Structure work can really feel rigid to some writers who don't have a lot of experience with it. Through this course, you'll get a chance to explore structure in a new way - by actually telling the story basics to an audience and getting feedback on your ideas in real time. There is nothing like the feeling of exploring ideas in a community designed not to help you get it "right" but to help you get it done - well.

Five Days. Ten Hours. One Story. I hope you join us!

Frequently Asked Questions

What skill level is this program for?

Any skill level. This boot camp is designed to push those who are revising to sharpen their projects and identify high-level logical issues, while new drafters have the chance to deepen and energize their story components further before ever typing a thing.

How long do I have access to the program?

While the bootcamp is real time, the course itself will remain up and available for a full year after the last day. You can rewatch the recorded sessions, connect with other writers in the community, and download any course materials or bonuses.

Do I need to have an idea, draft or other before starting?

Nope! This boot camp can help you generate ideas or surface/ strengthen existing ones. We'll wrap up the course by making a plan for taking what you have into the rest of your year and all the way to done, no matter where you begin.

What Happens if I Miss a Day?

The recording will be available immediately. Catch up by watching as soon as you can. And no matter what, keep coming to the daily meetings, even if you "fall behind" on any assignment or miss a session.
